In 2008, the number of drug-related killings in Mexico soared to more than 5,000 deaths. To examine Mexico's ongoing struggles against violent drug trafficking organizations, on Thursday, February 19, the Trans-Border Institute and the L.A. Times will host a panel discussion featuring academics and expert journalists. The program will draw from recent analysis by the Justice in Mexico Project (www.justiceinmexico.org) and the L.A. Times featured series, "Mexico Under Siege".
The event is open to the public and free of charge.
